About

HR can seem overly complicated and sometimes a bit frightening to small business owners, at Grounded HR we strongly believe that HR can be straightforward.  We believe you can get the best out of your people and be legally compliant, without the need for complicated systems and lots of policies.

At Grounded HR we also want to change the stereotype of HR people; we aren’t all power hungry, grim reaper types only showing up to meetings when someone is going to be ‘sacked’. HR professionals can be warm, creative and compassionate, whilst still supporting business owners with tough decisions.

Meet the Team

Caroline Chapman

Creator and Director

My name is Caroline and I am on a mission to change the face of HR.  I founded Grounded HR to change the face of HR and to be able to provide compassionate and straightforward HR advice and support for small business owners.  Essentially to put the ‘Human’  back into HR.

I believe how you treat people significantly impacts business performance, if you treat people with compassion, it builds trust.  Trusted employees perform better, are more innovative and create a competitive advantage for your business.  I also 100% believe if you need to have a tough conversation or even ‘sack’ someone, this can be done in a compassionate way, creating better outcomes for everyone.

Compassion is not about being soft, it’s about taking a breath and taking thoughtful action.

I am CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and development) qualified and for over 20 years have provided my expertise to organisations in a variety of sectors; from family run businesses, manufacturing companies, FTSE 100 companies and various charities.

I am a mum of three and we are neurodiverse family. When I am not working I love to spend time outdoors with my family, crafting and chilling out.

Charlotte Ledgard

Lead HR Consultant

I am Charlotte and am a senior HR consultant with over 20 years’ experience advising organisations on complex and sensitive people issues. CIPD qualified with an MSc in Human Resource Management, I have grown my experience specialising in high-risk HR casework, including grievance and disciplinary matters, employee relations, and organisational change.

I also have a background in supporting HR administrative processes through developing contracts, policies and procedures, supporting recruitment across all levels and implementing new HR systems.

I like to work in a calm and structured way, helping leaders navigate difficult situations with confidence, delivering fair and compassionate outcomes.

It is this ethos of compassion that attracted me to Grounded HR and underpins how I work.

Rhiannon Collinson

HR Consultant

I’m Rhiannon, a CIPD-qualified HR Consultant and Policy Specialist at Grounded HR. I bring experience across a broad range of HR functions, including advising managers on complex employee matters, developing and reviewing policies, and supporting recruitment processes. I have worked in HR roles in both the UK and Australia, giving me a well-rounded perspective on people management.

I’m passionate about supporting others, and at Grounded HR I have the opportunity to do this every day. Whether it’s offering practical advice, guiding you through challenging situations, or developing effective HR policies, I’m here to help you navigate your HR needs with confidence.

Outside of work, I enjoy making the most of the outdoors—whether that’s hiking, cycling, or camping with my family. I also love baking, cooking, and learning about nutrition and wellbeing.

Julia Beeby

Employee Relations Specialist

I’m Julia and I have the privilege to be part of Grounded HR as an Employee Relations Specialist. I have over 20 years experience in HR and have a passion for all things people. I love the conversations that cultivate self-growth and mentoring individuals on various solutions to tackling their people issues.

I’m passionate about helping people and adding genuine value. This could be assisting you in getting the best from your team, tackling difficult conversations and workplace issues, or making the technical HR jargon simple to understand and implement.

I work with my colleagues at Grounded to find simple, effective, commercially and legally sound decisions. Alongside being CIPD qualified, I have experience of complex HR issues both from a Company perspective and an Employee prospective. I've also experienced Employment Tribunals from both viewpoints.

One of my key principles is giving back to others and I love volunteering. I founded a community group in my village which does annual Giant Easter egg and scarecrow hunts alongside a Christmas window trail, rock hunting and general village community activities.

I advocate Baby Loss awareness and openly talk around this difficult topic following the loss of my firstborn daughter, who passed away unexpectedly at 4 days old in 2014.

I’m also a renovation girly and quite happy knocking down walls, running cables, shifting rubble and doing the odd bit of plumbing. I love redesigning a space and being creative and have undertaken some significant property developments so far.
